A consortium to be Mentor'ed

EDA DesignLine

Mentor Graphics has joined the SOI Consortium mid-November.

Ok, this occurred 2 years after Cadence and Synopsys and 1.5 year after Magma. But, it's never too late to start.

As André-Jacques Auberton-Hervé, CEO of Soitec SA (Bernin, France) and chairman of the SOI Consortium, told EDA DesignLine "Mentor's membership materializes the common will to build an industrial environment. Design is the number one barrier to entry. The SOI consortium is moving forward to remove barriers."

By joining the consortium, Mentor said it aims at expanding EDA tool and methodology support for the SOI technology. More specifically, Mentor said it will work on advancing design automation support for SOI-based products and systems in collaboration with other members.

And, it is common knowledge that the more the better.

Auberton-Hervé proudly noted that all the big players have now federated to develop the fabless-foundry model. "The SOI consortium now counts more than 30 members, and this figure proves the interest of the SOI technology."

The SOI Consortium door remains open to new candidates. If you want to have a look at what's inside, click here.
