LONDON – Arteris Inc., a provider of network-on-chip intellectual property, has hit back against rival Sonics Inc. Sonics filed a legal suit in November 2011 alleging Arteris infringed seven Sonics patents.
Arteris (Sunnyvale, Calif.) has now filed a patent infringement claim against Sonics (Milpitas, Calif.)and is asserting that it does not infringe Sonics patents and that Sonics' patents are invalid. Arteris has retained DLA Piper LLP to defend its interests in the legal disputes.
Speficially Arteris claims Sonics' SonicsGN product infringes Arteris patents. The disputes cover the use of cross-bar switching in networks-on-chips and the use of packetized data transmission, Arteris said
"We are saddened that Sonics has chosen to try to make up for its deteriorating SoC project market share by initiating legal action," said Charles Janac, CEO of Arteris, in a statement.
